Sidelobe Modification for Reflector Antennas by Electronically Reconfigurable Rim Scattering

چکیده
Dynamic modification of the pattern a reflector antenna system traditionally requires an array feeds. This paper presents alternative approach in which scattering from fraction around rim is passively modified using, for example, electronically-reconfigurable reflectarray. facilitates flexible sidelobe modification, including canceling, systems employing single feed. Applications such include radio astronomy, where deleterious levels interference satellites enter through sidelobes. We show that efficient reconfigurable surface occupying about 11% area axisymmetric circular paraboloidal fed prime focus sufficient to null arriving any direction outside main lobe with little change characteristics. further required independent frequency and same performance can be obtained using 1-bit phase control constituent unit cells additional 6% surface.

Ultra Thin Deployable Reflector Antennas
We have recently proposed a new concept for deployable reflectors consisting of a thin parabolic carbon-fibre-reinforced-plastic (CFRP) shell stiffened along the edge by an elastically collapsible stiffener. Here we show that a stiffener accounting for less than 10% of the total mass of the reflector increases the stiffness of the softest deformation mode of the deployed reflector by 48 times, ...
متن کاملDistorted Reflector Antennas: Radiation Pattern Sensitivity to the Surface Distortions
The high-frequency performance of the reflector antennas is mainly limited by the surface. It has been shown that distortions on different regions of the reflector surface can have different effects on the radiation performance. In other words, degradation of the radiation pattern due to the presence of surface distortions is sensitive to the location and behavior of the surface distortion prof...

The purpose of this report is to present the results of further investigations into the operation and design of two-dimensional Luneburg Lenses at 24 GHz, with the possibility for electronic control of their behavior. Various lens design techniques are illustrated; these include a holey dielectric lens (drilled dielectric) and, a holey plate lens (etched holes on the upper metal plate). Ray tra...

where ν is the outer normal to A at the point where the light ray hits A. Suppose that we have a light source located at O, and Ω,Ω∗ are two domains in the sphere Sn−1, f(x) is a positive function for x ∈ Ω (input illumination intensity), and g(x∗) is a positive function for x∗ ∈ Ω∗ (output illumination intensity). If light emanates from O with intensity f(x) for x ∈ Ω, the far field reflector ...
متن کاملReconfigurable Multifunctional Antennas
In this work, several reconfigurable antennas are presented and discussed. The antennas to be presented cover a wide range of designs such as fractal antennas, triangular antennas, dipoles and monopoles with variable sleeves. All these antennas make use of MEMS switches, to make them reconfigurable. Some of the challenges that the designer has to face in biasing and integrating these switches w...
